We were really just looking for a place to park the motorhome during a trip in Halland and Småland. Out in the countryside in Långaryd we found cosy Charlottenlund Farm Hotel and restaurant. A little more than just a parking space, but you should still eat. 🙂
We booked a dinner package and then you get to stay for free at their site with access to the hotel's facilities, a smooth way to attract long-distance guests, one must assume. Since we arrived already in the afternoon, we had time to look around the nice area before dinner. Among other things, we strolled around the beautiful koi garden right next to the hotel.
The farm hotel is in a rural location with meadows and woods all around. Right next to the car park is the alpaca farm, where you can see the alpacas grazing and enjoying the green grass. If you want to see more of the cute animals, you can book a guided tour or a coffee break. This includes treats for you and the alpacas, cows and koi fish.
What about the food, how was it? Yes, thank you, it was very good! They have a fairly traditional menu with classics like Toast Skagen and beef fillet with potato gratin but everything was very well cooked and delicious. As far as possible, they also use locally produced ingredients. For example, the meat comes from a nearby farm and the herbs from their own orangery. I guess they also have a strawberry patch somewhere behind the house as all the dishes contained strawberries.
I almost always choose beef fillet when it is on the menu, chose to try their signature dish Charlottenlundsbiffen with oven-roasted potatoes, red wine sauce and béarnaise sauce. A dish that is actually of the simpler kind, but so good! For dessert, Henrik chose another of their favourite dishes, the Charlottenlund waffle with bourbon ice cream, cream, berries and homemade raspberry jam. Considering how quickly it went down, I think it was good. My brownie did not go off for chops either. 🙂
We had a great evening at Charlottenlund gårdshotell with good food in a lovely environment. This particular evening was a quiet evening on the farm, but they have activities all year round with everything from blues evenings to Oktoberfest and Christmas parties. If you have the roads past Långaryd, look in!
