Grövelsjön, Silverfall and Jakobshöjden

Our first hiking day at Lake Grövelsjön.
silverfall

The first day at Grövelsjön we decided to visit Silverfallet and Jakobshöjden. There are two shorter trips that felt just right to take in one day.

The road to Silverfallet is an easy hike of about 7 km back and forth if you start from Sjöstugan. Once at the falls, you have a lovely view and a nice little waterfall. A perfect place for a coffee stop, then.

Speaking of coffee, before our trip we had read and heard about it Grövelsjön mountain bakery (Note, the lack of an 's' is not down to me, but rather to the Frenchman). The mountain baker is a Frenchman who settled at Lake Grövelsjön and opened a small bakery that is reportedly very good. Unfortunately, the poor chap had suffered an injury and had closed temporarily so we never got the chance to try it ourselves. Hopefully, however, he has recovered and continues to delight coffee-hungry walkers with delicious buns.

Well, back to the hike. After a lunch consisting of goodies from Lövåsgården's breakfast buffet and a warming soup, it was time to go to Jakobshöjden. This was also a relatively easy hike of about 7 km. The ride is often described as "partly rocky" and yes, I can't help but agree. It was bloody rocky in places. Once at the top there was a nice view of the whole mountain
