Moveat, the best city walk?

Food, wine and walking, an excellent combo.

We like to walk and we like to eat and drink well. When Moveat started its concept a few years ago, we were therefore very excited, this was really something for us. The idea is that you buy a ticket to a Moveat event in one of all the cities where this is offered and then get a reasonably long walk with 6-8 tasting stops along the way. So far we've only done the tour in Karlstad, but it's otherwise a really good way to discover a new city.

Today's Moveat started at the tapas bar Cava 42, pintxos were served here, one with salmon mash and one with salami. Even though there were 300 tickets sold, there were never crowds and queues anywhere except at the first stop when we were to get our wristbands. However, this took a maximum of ten minutes and the weather was fine, so we were hardly in any trouble. Moments later we had devoured our pintxos and a glass of sangria, ready to move on to the next place.

Since Karlstad is our hometown, we know all the restaurants on the list. Some we have been to several times and some we may have just passed by. The funny thing about Moveat is that some places always surprise. Such a place was Naples which is said to be Karlstad's first pizzeria. They certainly have other food as well, but in my eyes it has probably always been just a pizzeria. A fantastically good steam bun with sirloin steak, truffle cream and pickled onions was served here, as well as a seafood soup, a taste experience that I had not expected at all, fun!

We then walked further down to the museum and The food mill, always a safe bet in Karlstad and one of the city's best restaurants. I, who am not particularly fond of fish, was probably not completely taken by a rainbow salmon mousseline, but the curry cream and Parmesan foam perked me up. Henrik, who likes fish, gave Matbruket the highest rating.

Next stop was spicy chicken wings on Carlstad beer hall. Here we also tasted a sour beer and got a mini-lesson in sour beer brewing, always fun with staff who take time for their guests. Big and small, gourmet and street food as you can see, a wonderful mix of food and drink.

My fishing experiences did not end at Matbruket, but I got a new challenge King wore, an Asian salmon tartare was served here. But what does the fish matter when it is served with a glass of champagne and nice service? Drott is probably the restaurant that has best captured the concept of Moveat, they really make their guests feel welcome and we have decided to go here one evening as soon as the opportunity arises.

After a bit of bubbly, we headed towards the inner harbor for pizza Good Guys. This is normally one of the best pizza joints in town and also a good beer brewery, but today they had not quite succeeded, the pizza was ok but had probably been left out a little too long and got cold. It was therefore only a quick stop and we walked back to town again to visit Forest hut dance's Dirty Taco. If you like tacos, you should definitely go here, here they really have tacos out of the ordinary and with fantastic flavor combos. For example, we were treated to a tostada with unfermented kimchi, feta cheese, dirty mayo and pickled onions, yum!

At this point, we were both fairly full and a little round underfoot, but a taste peak remained, The printing house. Rounding off the day with a glass of silky red wine and raw beef with chilli, sesame and lime was a perfect end to a very pleasant day. We had deliberately put this stop last as we have been here before and been very satisfied. At Tryckeriet you always get good service and super good food.

We are now even more excited to visit a new city and take a Moveat there. Currently, Moveat is available in 40 cities in Sweden and more are appearing all the time. They also have special events with, for example, akvavit or a little craft beer from time to time. However, you have to be on your toes, the concept is popular and the tickets sell out quickly.

So download the Moveat app and see when the next one is Moveat coming to your city or the city you want to visit!
